“The word of the Lord stands forever”
“Change and decay in all around I see” that phrase from a famous hymn is a good description of life in this world. Life is brief and uncertain. The great accomplishments of people, the things they are most proud of are like beautiful flowers that soon wilt. Just think of what is happening in our world and maybe in your life. Our society is changing. The economy has changed. Hard times come and the flower of prosperity dries up. There is sickness and it changes our lives. Finally the earth will end.
But there is one thing that does not change and that is the Word of God. That word condemns us for our sins. And it is true still today. But in this changing world the gracious God who is not willing that any should perish tells us we are not saved by things like gold and silver, but by the precious blood of Christ.
The Word of the Lord stands forever. Not one single Word of God will fail. He will keep every single promise. We take the side of the Word of God. We remember we have been saved by the death of Jesus. We want to follow the Word of the Lord that stands forever. We strive to preserve the Word among us and proclaim it to the world.
